The Muller & Sussman (M&S) factory made shirts, collars and pajamas and was established in 1871 by Albert Muller and his partner Nathan Sussman. In 1911 Albert's sons Alfred and Paul joined the firm as partners, but Paul left after a few years. In 1921, the 50th anniversary of the factory, Alfred Muller took over direction of the firm until he was forced to close down the factory in 1937 because of the Nazis.

Alfred Muller was the father of Albert "Al" Miller.
