Ephraim Moshe Lilien (1874-1925) was an illustrator in the Art Nouveau style.  He was born in Austria and formally studied art in Germany. He visited Palestine in the mid 1890's and captured images of the people and the landscape using photography. During his stay, he assembled an extraordinary photographic collection, which he used to create his Biblical scenes of the Holyland.  The works were distributed in several formats: prints, etchings, posters, postcards, and illustrated books of the Bible.
