The plaque was issued in silver plated bronze and engraved by French sculptor Emannuel Hannaux (b. 1855).
A similar medal was offered in Rosenblum Rare Coin’s February 1996 Mailbid sale, lot 1107.
This plaque was issued by La Bienfaisante Israélite, a fraternal benefit society founded in Paris in 1843, and intended to be awarded to a recipient though the field for an engraved dedication on the reverse.
