Today, another phase of the Jewish Exodus is taking place.Today, Exodus 1949 is under way. Having survived the most hideous hell devised by man 50,000 Jewish DP's are looking prayerfully to the new state of Israel. This State of Israel, having mobilized every breath of its energy in the struggle to live, although victorious, is not yet at peace. Yet Israel unlike any other state in history, has flung open its gates and every last resource to the survivors of the European holocaust. It is a material impossibility for Israel to do the job alone. The cost of transportation of the DP’s to Israel is enormous. The cost of settlement of our beaten brothers is such that it will jeopardize the economic stability and solvency of the Jewish State so valiantly won, if our help is not freely given. THE 1949 UNITED JEWISH APPEAL is under way. Soon you will have the opportunity to help your fellow Jews who have suffered and fought to keep the Jewish people alive. (CONTINUED ON PAGE FIVE)
