Judaic Heritage Society Medal Commemorating the Egyptian / Israeli Peace

The front / obverse has in its center field a Star of David with the upper portion of the Star being in the form of an Egyptian pyramid.  Underneath the bottom of the Star is a crescent moon representing the Islamic nature of Egypt.  In the upper right field is a picture of the Egyptian Sphinx, representing the country of Egypt.  In the upper left field is a picture of a menorah representing the country of Israel.  In the center of the Star are two hands shaking, representing Begin and Sadat’s shaking hands after the signing of the peace treaty between their countries.  Underneath the hands is a picture of a roaring lion,  based on an ancient Hebrew seal found at Megiddo.  The seal is from the 8th century, during the reign of Jeroboam II, King of Israel from 789-748 BCE.  Curved around the upper rim is written “ISRAEL EGYPT”. Curved around the lower rim is written “MAR. 26 1979”.  In the lower left corner is written “RR” for the artist’s initials.

Commemorating Peace Between Israel and Egypt

Description
This medal was issued by the Judaic Heritage Society in Bronze (38mm - mintage unknown) and Silver (38mm - mintage unknown).  Each medal is individually numbered on the edge.  The edge of the Bronze medal is stamped with “JUDAIC HERITAGE SOCIETY / MACO BRONZE”.  The medals were struck by the Medal Arts Company, located in Rochester, New York.
