“Year of Peace - 1978” Medal Commemorating the Egyptian / Israeli Peace

The front / obverse has in its center and right field a stylized picture of a dove with an olive branch in its beak.  The Hebrew letters for the word Shalom (Peace) make up part of the center of the dove’s body.  Above and to the left of the dove is written alternately in English, Hebrew and Arabic, “Peace” and “1978”.  In the lower right field is the signature of the last name of the artist, “Basson”.

Description
This medal was issued in silvered bronze (59mm -exact mintage is unknown, but at least 1,000) and Silver (45mm 3,000 minted). 

Each medal is individually numbered on its edge (the above silvered example is numbered 0937) and is marked “ISRAEL” on its edge in Hebrew and English.  The medal was designed by the noted Israeli artist Noam Basson and was issued by the Shekel Mint.  The medal was named the “Year of Peace – 1978”.
