“Year of Peace - 1978” Medal Commemorating the Egyptian / Israeli Peace

The back / reverse has written in Arabic in the upper left field, and in Hebrew in the upper right field, “And they shall beat their swords into plowshares. Isaiah 2.4”.  Below these inscriptions is written “WASHINGTON 1979” as well as the signatures of Jimmy Carter, Anwar Sadat and Menacham Begin.  Curved around the bottom rim is written in Arabic and Hebrew “Year of The Peace 1978”.

Description
This medal was issued in silvered bronze (59mm -exact mintage is unknown, but at least 1,000) and Silver (45mm 3,000 minted). 

Each medal is individually numbered on its edge (the above silvered example is numbered 0937) and is marked “ISRAEL” on its edge in Hebrew and English.  The medal was designed by the noted Israeli artist Noam Basson and was issued by the Shekel Mint.  The medal was named the “Year of Peace – 1978”.
