The Poster serves as an announcement of the Chevra Kadisha (literally Holy Brotherhood, or Fellowship), a term originally applied to a mutual benefit society, later more narrowly to a fellowship organized for the specific purpose of the reverential disposal of the dead in accord with Jewish law and tradition. Membership in the society is regarded as a particular privilege. The names, addresses and telephone numbers of the members of the organization are displayed on the poster.
