Medal Commemorating Exodus, the Second Book of the Torah, entitled “And they Wandered”

caption:
The back / reverse depicts in its upper portion a division or partition and both sides take on the shape of water (waves).  It symbolizes the parting of the waters of the Red Sea when the Children of Israel exited Egypt.  The center of the medal depicts the very arid and rocky terrain of the Sinai Desert, that they wandered.  Below is the inscription “And They Wandered” symbolizing what the Torah tells us “and they wandered and they camped (rested)” for forty years.  The words are formed from tightly connected letters – attesting to the fact that during this period, the Children of Israel became a untied, tightly-knit, one people, one nation.
