able to see where to bomb. "It was known that anyone who kept their lights turned on could be fined or ar-rested," Zelig had said. He remembered that there were rations placed on sugar and meat, and that the govern-ment did not permit people to buy what they wanted, there were restrictions in place.
The 13th of December 1941, marked the day that Zelig had his Bar Mitzvah, the celebration of his thirteenth birthday. The Melave Malka, Saturday night celebration, took place in the Beis Midrash, which was upstairs in 770.
Zelig attended high school in 1945, part of the first graduating class - consisting of four students of the Yeshiva. After Zelig gradu-ated, he continued to study in the Yeshiva Tomchei Temimim until he received his Smicha, Rabbinic ordination at the age of 23. Dur-ing these 6 years that Zelig was studying, he organized and was involved in numerous outreach programs instituted by the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
In 1947, Zelig went on Merkos Shlichus to the Catskill Mountains, which is located in the state of New York, with his yeshiva friend, Mendel Bomgarten. Zelig was
