At 1:30am, it was their turn to see the Rebbe. Zelig ex-plained to him that they wanted to return to new York for the religious, Jewish education of their children and to be closer to the Rebbe and Rivka's parents. It was at this time that the Rebbe expounded on his new famous expla-nation of the uniqueness of the 'spring water' in relation to water used for a Mikvah.
In conclusion, the Rebbe said, "As long as we are con-nected to the source it doesn't matter how far away we are physically, for we will still benefit from the proper-ties inherent in the original spring water." The Rebbe then asked Zelig if they were renting or of they owned their own home. He replied that they were renting. The Rebbe looked at them and said, "It's time to buy a house." They were in a state of shock as they had come to ask for a blessing to leave Cincinnati and now the Rebbe told them to buy a house! Zelig said that they really did not have enough money saved to buy a house. The Rebbe replied that when they would sell their house the value would have doubled if not tripled and they would make money from the pur-chase.
The moment the Rebbe told them to buy a house was a defining moment in both of their lives. It was the faith that the Rebbe had in them that had
