RABBI ZELIG SHARFSTEIN Z"L
asked Rabbi Sharfstein to become a member of the Vaad Rabbonei Lubavitch, the central committee of the Lubavitch Rabbis of the United States and Canada. They decide on policies regarding standards that the Lubavitch Rabbis should acquire. Rabbi Sharfstein is on the execu-tive committee of this organization.
111As Chief Rabbi, otherwise known as - the Rabbi of the 'Wad Hoier', Rabbi Sharfstein held many communal re-sponsibilities. The Vaad Hoier over-sees the kashrus of the city, compris-ing of visits to factories as well as su-pervising the butcher shops and cater-ers. All Beth Din matters were Rabbi Sharfstein's respon-sibility as well as making sure that all divorces and con-versions are proper according to Jewish Law. Due to his expertise in the laws of building a Kosher Mikvah, he was instrumental in the building of the new Mikveh in Cincinnati, as well as being consulted on the building and renovation of many Mikvahs around the world. Zelig has traveled to many places to inspect and supervise the building of Kosher Mikvahs, including to Russia, Austra-lia, Europe, Panama and to twenty five out of the fifty states of America.
Zelig was on the `Vaad Hachinuch' of the Chofetz Chaim - Cincinnati Hebrew Day School, where he was a teacher
