the message. A powerful message – but the same message we had heard at almost every one of our Simchas when Zeide visited at that time of year. It was a message based on events that happened to Zeidy during the three weeks. It was a story and a message that we had heard many times before.
I don’t know if he realised [sic] that he was saying the same thing each time – but it was something that so filled him and inspired him that he had to repeat it again and again. It is a story with players that I believe made Zeidy’s life – players that so inspired him that they made him the Man, Rov, teacher and father that he was.
It began on a Friday Erv-Shabbos when he was called in to yechidus – a private audience with his Rebbe – our Rebbe – zecher tzadik v’kodoish livrocho. The same Rebbe who sent him to Cincinnati, and whom he faithfully served for more than fifty years. The same Rebbe that told him, when he wanted to leave Cincinnati in the early years – to stop renting but instead to buy a house. The same Rebbe, who without a doubt, was there to greet his Shaliach Horav Ezriel Zelig, and usher him in to his rightful place in Gan Eden.
