the Rebbe. The Rebbe instructed him that upon his return to Cincinnati he should make a gathering in honour of the previous Lubavitcher Rebbe whose birthday, and day of liberation from prison at the hand of the Soviets, was on the 12th of Tammuz. The Rebbe also requested that Rabbi Silver OBM should be asked to be the guest speaker. The Rebbe concluded that because it was the three weeks Rabbi Silver might prefer to have the gathering after the three weeks – but that would be ok too.
When Rabbi Silver heard that the Rebbe wanted a gathering he said, that if the Rebbe wanted it, a gathering had to be organised [sic] straight away and even in the three weeks – so a Melave Malke was organised [sic] on Motsoei Shabbos Pinchus.
At the Melave Malke Rabbi Silver addressed the crowd and spoke about the previous Rebbe. He tied it in with the Parsha of the week – Pinchus. He said in his address that Pinchus zeh Eliyahu, Pinchus is the same person as Elijah the prophet and about Elijah the prophet on every Motsoei Shabbos we say three things. We say he is Eliyahu HaNovi, Eliyahu HaTishbi and Eliyahu HaGiladi. Rabbi Silver said that these three descriptions could be said about the Previous Rebbe.
