Description
Edge: State emblem with words "SHEKEL" to the right in Hebrew and to the left in English, and serial number 1915.
Designed by the artist Ralph Menconi and Struck by Shekel Israel Ltd.

This medal was issued in Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum

The first form of this Menconi design was the first medal issue of the American Israel Numismatic Association (AINA), then in its first flush of growth. AINA medals were struck in Silver and Bronze by Medallic Art Co., New York. The Shekel Israel version gained fame as an unauthorized or pirated copy of the AINA Medal, made from models spirited out of Medallic Art’s New York headquarters and used without the copyright holder’s permission.
