...and Mrs. Alfred Seelig. Marcus and Esther Zeidman took charge in 1957.
Throughout the years, the Mary Albert Linen Circle, and most recently the Ladies Auxiliary, have supplemented the needs of the Home, its finances and its services to residents.
Evidence of the sincere efforts of all concerned was the fact that again in 1957 the need for more capacity prompted the addition of six more rooms. But even this proved to be a temporary solution.
JACOB’S DREAM
When Jacob Jacobson took over as president in 1958 he had a dream that seemed totally beyond reach – a beautiful, modern, entirely new home in the midst of the Jewish population where it had relocated, the Bond Hill – Roselawn area.
Much to his pleasure, he discovered that many others shared this dream and were willing to cobine their efforts, enthusiasm and philanthropy in making it come true. With the inspiration of the generous advanced gifts of Jack I. Lashkow, the campaign not only lifted itself off the ground, but accelerated into the amazing pace that has made possible this Dedication Day before the New Year of 5724.
A HOLY EFFORT
Throughout the pages of this Dedication Book, it has been the goal to recognize everyone possible who has played a part in the foundation and development of the Othodox Jewish Home for the aged. It is obvious, however, that there are hundreds of men and women whose daily efforts of heart and soul are not recorded in pen and ink.
One can be certain, however, that in a holy effort such as this their deeds have been inscribed in the Book of Life by the Almighty.
