A Challenge for the Future from the President
Today is truly a “Yom Tov” for all of us. Hardly more than two years ago, the Orthodox Jewish Home for the Aged was given a mandate by the Jews of Cincinnati to erect a beautiful, modern structure to house all elderly Jews in the city, regardless of whether they be Orthodox, Conservative or Reform. On this 15th day of September, 1963, you see the results of what must be termed a holy effort.
It should be apparent that here is represented n entirely new approach to the problems of aging. Our new Home is a place where people form all walks of life will come to live. The “old folks home” where an old person, usually poor or homeless, went ot spend his last few remaining days, is a thing of the past.
Although construction in completed, our job has just begun. The Jewish community has accepted the responsibility for successful operation of the Home for years to come. With 130 person soon to be in our new building, we need you to volunteer both time and money. Accept this challenge to become an active part of one of the finest institutions of its kind in the world.
Blessed art thou, O Lord, King of the universe, who has kept us in life, and has preserved us, and enabled us to reach this season.
Jacob Jacobson,
President
