Chabad House. In 1956 he was involved in the moving of Knesseth Israel Synagogue from Washington Avenue in Avondale to its present site on Section Road.' There was a small house on the lot which he moved to the rear and in which Rabbi and Mrs. Silver lived. He then built the present shul building. Tbday one can see in the shul a bronze plaque from Rabbi Silver, "To honor our beloved President and his wife for giving so much of their time and energy to the building of our synagogue." Harris served as President of Knesseth Israel from 1945 to 1972. At a testimonial Israel Bonds and Cincinnati Hebrew Day School dinner in the Harris' honor in 1979 Al Harris recounted, "There were two Talmud Torahs in Avondale, one on Forest Avenue and one at Maple and Knott streets run by Rabbi Eliezer Silver. In May of 1946 Rabbi Silver gathered a group of us to dinner. There was myself, Meyer Goldberg, Ben Berkowitz, Ben Ritter, Eddie Jacobs, Ed Stern and Dr. Wigser. Together we raised the funds to purchase a building at South Crescent and Reading Road. The Talmud Torah from Maple and Knott streets was moved to this location and became
