Dear Mr. Smith,
The medallion You had acquired was struck by Congregation Mikveh Israel in Philadelphia in 1923, in honor of the one hundredth anniversary of the birth of Sabato Morais. Interestingly, to commemorate the eightieth anniversary of his death, we are currently displaying the medallion in our synagogue, together with documents to highlight the significant events in the life of our late minister.
Morals was born in Italy and came to the United States via England in 1251 to occupy Mikveh Israel's pulpit. In the almost half a century, he was renowned for his learning and piety, He was so well respected that once he was invited to arbitrate a dispute in the garment industry. The Seminary he founded in 1886 is in New York and is known the world over.
We trust that the information we give Is adequate to determine the value of the medallion.
Sincerely,
Ezekiel N. Musleah
