Congregation B’nai Tzedek (Cincinnati, Ohio) 1982 18th Anniversary Booklet

Dear Friends of B'nai Tzedek,
I had occasion to attend Congregation B'nai Tzedek services last Shabbat and as I looked around, some faces were familiar and some were new, but I recognized most of the accoutrements. It seemed that the congregation was, in many ways, the same, as when I left Cincinnati seventeen years ago, after cele-brating the first anniversary.
Cincinnati is no longer the way it was when I left it in 1965. Time has changed the city and the neighborhoods. Some who were very dear to us then are no longer with us now. As communities change, so do the institutions which serve their needs.
As I sat at services, I wondered whether or not B'nai Tzedek had changed. Has the con-gregation grown? Are there more members? Do the same needs exist? Has the congregation adopted a new direction?
I have reached a cross road in my life; a time to turn from reflecting on the past to planning for the future. It is a frightening experience because the future is unknown. But the challenge is exciting and the reward is not yet in sight. Maybe Congregation B'nai Tzedek is having a similar experience.
My congratulations and best wishes to the members of Congregation B'nai Tzedek, on the occasion of their eighteenth anniversary. I shall always feel that a most significant part of my being is lodged within your midst.
Best personal regards,
Gilbert D. Orlik First President of Congregation B'nai Tzedek
