World War II U.S. Army Portable Torah Ark used in the European Theater

One of what we believe to be only 4 portable arks used by the US Military in WWII in the European theatre of battle.  Made by the Jewish Welfare Board. 
 
This ark was transported on the back of a military Jeep and used for services for troops immediately behind the front lines.

This ark was made by the Jewish Welfare Board as the US Army did not provide for the religious needs of Jewish soldiers during World War II.
