Description
Community marriage rings first appeared in the 16th century and were worn by the bride during the first few weeks of marriage. The ring was then returned to the respective Jewish community. The rings were often surmounted by small buildings symbolizing the new home or the Ancient Temple in Jerusalem in order to emphasize the sacred quality of the Jewish household.
