This medal was designed by the sculptor Nathaniel Choates, struck by the Medallic Art Company, and was issued by The Society of Medalists.  From 1930, when it was founded, until 1995, The Society of Medalists has issued two medals per year to its members.  This medal was issued in 1961. The medal depicted herein is #64 of their series.
