universally recognized. The outpouring of thousands of men and women who came to pay their last respects to his memory was a significant tribute to this great leader.

Shortly after Rabbi Feinberg's death, Rabbi Goldfeder was elected Rabbi of the congregation. He has brought to his duties great enthusiasm and unbounded energy, and is endeavoring to bring the members and their families into active synagogue life. Under his influence the congregation has enlarged its scope of activities and many new projects have been initiated.

The association or Mr. Newman with the Religious School, since he entered upon his duties as Educational and Youth Director in August 1949, has been a significant one. Better educational standards have been developed. New objectives in spiritual morale and purpose have been set and attained.

The house of worship is now known as the Louis Feinberg Synagogue. It had been called the Avondale Synagogue since the congregation moved to Avondale. Shortly after Rabbi Feinberg's death the congregation approved a proposal to rename the Synagogue as a memorial to him. The Congregation will shortly publish a posthumous collection of Rabbi Feinberg's essays, edited by Dr. Emmanuel Gemoran, with whom the Rabbi had often discussed the project. The work will testify to Rabbi Feinberg's fine literary sense, as well as his scholarly aptitudes and attainments.

The growth of the congregation prompted a decision in August 1950, to establish a branch in the Bond Hill-Roselawn area. A Survey showed that there were 850 Jewish families in this section, and that about thirty per cent of the congregation resided here. An option was obtained on the Roselawn Theater and the first services were conducted here during the high holy
