the place in order. Mr. Jacobs brought to this exacting task the benefit of his knowledge of the many problems involved in the proper administration of such a project. He said: "The aim of the Committee is to make our cemetery the finest and best kept in these parts."
Loyalty to Country
Members of the congregation served their country in every war. Some of them made the supreme sacrifice. The service flag now hanging in the Synagogue with stars attests to their service in World War II. Symbolic also of this fact are the rails on the front steps of the Synagogue. They were the gift of Mr. & Mrs. Max Middleman in memory of their son Jerome, who gave his life in World War II.
Youth For Vitality
Emphasis has been given, in recent years particularly, to the encouragement of the rising generation to take part in congregational affairs. The Religious School, the Junior Congregation, the Adethean Club - these are typical of the endeavors in this direction. Rabbi Goldfeder has laid particular stress on the necessity of integrating the sons and daughters of members into synagogue life and has been singularly successful in his efforts.
The Honor Roll
Throughout the years Adath Israel has been blessed with many men and women who devoted a large part of their lives to its interests. The list is too long to record here, but this chronicle would not be complete without the mention of a few whose service was particularly outstanding in our own time.
Louis Feinberg Synagogue as it begins its second century, can well be proud of its history and its traditions, and governed by the high ideals of its traditional Jewish heritage, looks forward hopefully to a glorious future of service to its members and the community.
