ADVANCE
In Kosher Meat Price
By Wholesale Butchers May Disrupt Co-Operative Plan.
Meeting Scheduled For To-Morrow in Jewish Settlement Hall To Discuss New Complications.
Another advance yesterday in the wholesale price of kosher meat to 16 cents, which may make it impossible for Weinberg & Center’s kosher co-operative store to supply strikers with meat at a retail price of 19 cents a pound, prompted the boycott conference committee last night to call a meeting at the Jewish settlement Hall for tomorrow evening.
The course to be pursued under the circumstances will be left to the delegates attending the meeting.
An appeal for members of the newly formed Jewish Co-operative Society and plans for financing a permanent co-operative food supply system will be discussed.
The conference committee of 50 voted to join the co-operative society. Subcommittees will make the rounds of the Jewish settlement today collecting subscriptions from those who previously furnished their names and addresses.
Payment of Police Court fines of pickets arrested, bills for printing of leaflets and bulletins and all other expenses incurred since the boycott was inaugurated more than a month ago will be defrayed with the proceeds of a benefit ball to be held by the boycott committee at the Jewish Settlement Hall next Saturday night.
