Description
This bronze medal was designed by artist Josine Souweine and given to the Edith Cavell Institute for their help to Jewish children during the Holocaust & WWII. These medals were presented to those gentiles who had hidden Jewish children during the Holocaust.
History: Similar medal offered in William M. Rosenblum Rare Coins Spring 2008 Auction, Lot 704 (did not have an organization’s name inscribed on the reverse). Sold for $240. Also similar medal offered in William M. Rosenblum Rare Coins Fall 2007 Auction, Lot 781 (medal awarded to Mme Nelly Lameere). Sold for $400. See Jewish Museum of Belgium #36 (page 53).
