Obverse: Around the rim, in Latin, “In memory of the existing veterans”; in the center, a seven-branched Menora topped by a Star of David, (the Menora is similar to the State Seal of Israel); the Hebrew word, “Israel” flanks the Menora; on the bottom rim, in English, “A. Pagani,” a rosette, and “Milano.”
Reverse: Around the upper rim, a Latin inscription; in the center, a tree trunk, a broken axe with a swastika and a streak of lightening splitting the axe at the swastika; on either side, the dates in Roman numerals, “5705 / 1945”; on the bottom rim, “Mistrvzzi.”

Description
This medal was struck in Milan, Italy in remembrance of WWII and the Holocaust. It is said that the medal was given to the underground fighters and/or to commemorate the Jewish veterans. It was designed by the artist A Pagani and is 32mm in diameter.
History: This medal is listed in Hafner, Sylvia, (1978) Judaic Tokens and Medals, American Israel Numismatic Association, Inc., See medal HO – 4, pages 82 & 85. A similar medal was offered for sale in The Sidney L. Olson Collection (August 15, 1978) NASCA Auction.
