Reverse:          In the lower center field is a picture of a tree stump with two new branches growing out of its sides.  The tree stump represents the body of European Jewry that was killed during the Holocaust.  The new branches represent the budding revival of European Jewry since the end of World War II.  Written in the center in English is “THE FRANKENHUIS COLLECTION / 1914-1918   1939-1945 / DESPITE THE FORCES OF DESTRUCTION MAURICE FRANKENHUIS PAINSTAKINGLY RECORDED THE HISTORY OF TWO WORLD WARS IN HIS COLLECTION”.

Description
This medal was designed by Elizabeth Nealson Weinstrop of California.  Commissioned by Maurice Frankenhuis.  Issued in 1967 in Bronze with 500 issued (78mm diameter) by the Medallic Art Co. N.Y.
 
History:           This medal is listed in Hafner, Sylvia, (1978) Judaic Tokens and Medals, American Israel Numismatic Association, Inc.,  See medal HO – 2, pages 80 & 85. See Hafner HO-2.  A similar medal exists without the text on the back.  The WWI section of the Frankenhuis Collection has been donated to the Kadman Numismatic Museum, Tel Aviv, Israel.  The WWII section of the Frankenhuis Collection has been donated to the Yad Vashem Institute in Jerusalem, Israel.
