This medal has designed by Elizabeth Weistrop, Sc. and issued by the Medallic Art Company in Bronze (75.5mm diameter).
The edge in marked with: “MACO- 1983 Danbury”
History: This obverse was originally executed for the “Frankenhuis Holocaust Medal” which honored Maurice Frankenhuis. The Frankenhuis Collection was one of the finest collections of medals relating to the two world wars ever assembled. The commissioning of this medal to commemorate his collection was the capstone of his collection. It’s ability to evoke strong emotion is unparalleled in 20th century medallic art.
