Obverse:          In the center field is a picture of a Jewish woman covering her eyes in front of a pair of Shabbat candles.  The picture represents the Jews crying over the destruction of European Jewry.  The picture also shows the continued commitment of Jews to their religion despite the terrible calamity that befell them.  Along the lower center rim are the artist’s initials “MS”. 

Reverse:          Uniface (the number #47/100 is stamped on the back)

Description
This medal was designed and struck in 1965 by Marika Somogri, a Holocaust survivor.  The medal was issued in bronze (56mm) with only 100 made.
