Description
The design for this medal resulted from a competition in Polish primary schools among the children to paint the liberation of the Death Camp in Auschwitz by the Soviet Army in 1945. The awarded picture became the design for this rare medal.  This dramatic medal combines the innocence of the children’s painting and the cruelty of the Nazi Death Camps.
