Description
Abraham Stern, (1769 – 1842) was an Orthodox Jewish scholar and inventor.  His most important invention was a “calculating machine.”  In addition, among his greatest works were the improvement of the mechanical workings of the watch and a threshing machine.
 
In recognition of his merit in the field of science Stern was admitted as a member of the Warsaw Society of the Friends of Science. He was its first Jewish member.

Artist:              Medal is marked with the initial S.W for the famous Polish engraver Stanislawa Watrobska

Mintage:          This medal was minted in Bronze (70mm), with 500 copies being struck and in Silverplate (70mm) with 150 copies being struck.
