OUR TALMUD CHOCHOM
RABBI DAVID I. INDICH "
"...And he who inflicts himself in sympathy with the community will be granted to see the comfort of the community."
TALMUD TAANITH IIA
Rabbi Indich, our spiritual leader, honored every one in our congregation when he accepted the responsibility of becoming our guide, our teacher and our comforter. In the short time since his arrival here we have all learned to love him not only for his devotion to a task that at best taxes the spiritual and physical resources of those with the hardihood to accept a life of self denial and service to others.
His work has inspired all of us to nobler effort and cooperation. By identifying himself so wholeheartedly with us and with our problems he has indeed hastened the realization of our hopes for an enlightened city in which menwill know each other as brothers and not merely as neighbors.
Rabbi Indich received his Hebrew education at Yeshiva Torah Vo-daath, Mesifta Theological Seminary, Brooklyn, N. Y., and Rabbinical College of Telshe, Cleveland, Ohio. His secular education was obtained at Yeshiva Parochial School Mesifta High School, New Utrecht High School, Brooklyn College and Cleveland College. He was ordained rabbi in 1950 at Rabbinical College of Telshe, Cleveland, where he also did post graduate study.
Among posts held by Rabbi Indich was that of principal of Torah In-stitute Hebrew School, Cleveland; Executive Director Cleveland Hebrew Academy, and Executive secretary Keren Hayishu (Religious Israeli Fund).
