To All Our Friend - Sholom !

The idea of a 50th anniversary observance may have not appealed to many of us at first, some said: "There are so many other problems—why bother with a jubilee?" others asked.
Yet there was a real need to hold this observance. It is good for people to remember how they started out, to remember the hard road, the troubles, the near-failures of those who preceded them. Such remembrance serves as inspiration. It cheers up any who might consider giving up the struggle. They find out that our present problems are indeed small in comparison with those of the leaders who established the little organization under nearly discouraging circumstances 50 years ago.

That is why, although our problems are not yet solved, we observe this jubilee as we are doing—with a feeling of cheerfulness and optimism for the future. All the groundwork has been done for us. The foundation has been completed. The building is here for all to see and to use for the comfort of their minds and hearts. Our job is to see that progress continues.
Every body can find a place and a task to his liking in our synagogue. There is work for the young and those no longer youthful; women as well as men have a place and an opportunity in our congregation. We have over-come our greatest obstacle and we now look with hope and with gratitude toward the new day. Let our synagogue be a place of enlightenment as well as of spiritual inspiration.
