THE VAAD HOIER was organized in 1930. Its constitution was proposed and accepted in accordance with the decision of Rabbi El. Silver in 1931. It was called by the United Orthodox Congregations of greater Cincinnati in May, 1931 in the presence of the Rabbi and was incorporated as Vaad Hoier by the following congregations: Knesseth Israel, Beth Tfela, Bnai Jacob, Kehilat B'nai Israel, Beth Medrosh Hagodol, Ohav Shalom, Yad Charutzim, Anshey Shalom, Tifereth Israel, Tifereth Zion, Agudath Israel, and Temple Israel; the Young Israel, New Hope, Minyan Chofetz Chaim, Beth Am and Eitz Chaim were added later. Signed and organized by Mr. I. Segal, president, H. Manischewitz, E. Schiff, A. Friedman, S. Shur, H. Leng, Rev. Carmel, S. Jacobson, 0. Mallin, L. Wartik, Jacobs, A. Z. Isaacs, S. Friedman, D. Frei-man, Rev. S. Ferber, D. Lipsky, L. Sheinbaum, M. Cohen, L. Lipsky, N. Tulch, H. Morgenstern, H. Fisher, H. Friedman, H. Sharf, M. Essig, M. Weintraub and Rabbi El. Silver. The latter was elected for life.
