Louis Spiegel was born in 1901 (London, England) and died in 1975 (Cincinnati, Ohio)
               
He was a Cincinnati artist.  Louis Spiegel came to the United States in the early 1900s. He was known for his portraits of clowns, of which he said, "I don't just paint the clown, I paint the soul."
He was a student of famous Cincinnati painter Frank Duveneck.  He attended the Cincinnati Academy of Art.
