Hand-woven, wool tapestry. The silhouette of an interwoven flame-tipped seven-branched copper-colored menorah encloses the image of the Jerusalem skyline in blue-gray. Two portions of the skyline are identified in Hebrew as the Tower of David and the Temple Mount. A blue and beige geometric border surrounds the whole. White fringe adorns the top and bottom of the tapestry.

Description
Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design is Israel's national school of art, founded in 1903. Named for the Biblical figure Bezalel, son of Uri, who was appointed by Moses to oversee the design and construction of the Tabernacle in the desert of Sinai after the Exodus from Egypt.
Gift of Dr. And Mrs. Sidney Peerless, and acquired for Hillel’s permanent collection by a consortium of eighteen Friends of Hillel.
