He was also Eliyahu HaTishbi – Tishbi is the adjective that describes Eliyahu as a Torah scholar. We say that in the future Tishbi yetaretz kusyois v’aboyes – that Elijah will answer all the difficult questions in Torah. Giladi, said Rabbi Silver, does not just refer to the place where Elijah came from – Gilad, but rather Giladi means that he was as solid as a rock, as it says in Chumash that Yaakov and Laban placed a rock as an edifice – as a sign between them – and called it Galeid. Eliyahu HaGiladi meant that the previous Rebbe, when it came to matters of Yiddishkeit, could not be moved.
 
Rabbi Silver said that when the Lubavitcher Rebbe made up his mind on a matter concerning Yiddishkeit – no force on Earth could change it. Pinchas zeh Eliyahu – all the attributes of Elijah the prophet were found in the previous Rebbe.
