The text reads:

Soldiers were hurt when their truck ran over one of the road mines strewn by the attackers to block reinforcements for Acre. Thirty minutes after the attack a party of men hurled six bombs from a truck into an army camp two miles north of Acre. It waltz not known immediately whether casualties resulted. Although one of the least costly attacks in British lives, the prison break was the most daring and sensational one yet made by the underground. The blow had obviously been planned minutely for many days. Despite its spectacular success, it cost the guerrilla forces more in killed, wounded and captured than had any recent incident in Palestine. This may have been the under-ground's pay-off for the hanging of four convicted terrorists in the same prison on April 16. The as-sault that broke down the walls that Napoleon had not been able to reduce was planned and executed with the usual dash and precision of the terrorists, many of whom had served in the armies

Jewish Military Prior to the Establishment of the State of Israel

Description
Jewish fighters, along with others, were being held in the Acre Prison fortress in the heart of the Arab city of Acre (Akko). On May 4, 1947 the Irgun (Ha-Irgun Ha-Tzvai Ha-Leumi be-Eretz Yisrael, lit. "The National Military Organization in the Land of Israel" aka “Etzel”)initiated a prison break, blowing down a wall of the fortress. The Jewish fighters participating in the operation were disguised as British soldiers.

The operation was not a complete success: many Jewish fighters lost their lives in the outbreak, some were re-prisoned, and three were later hanged by the British. But, 27 Jewish fighters were successful in escaping, and the prison break brought more world attention to the Jewish plight for independence. Indeed, one year later, the British left the Land of Israel, and the Jewish state was established.
