History of the Talmud
The compilation of the Talmud began in the year 420 and closed in the year 500. In 1483 was the first year that the Talmud was printed and was finished in 1520.
The Talmud consists of sixty volumes, known as Mesichtes and contains 2707 pages. By studying a page each day it will require about seven years and a half to consummate the Talmud. It has been the custom for thousands of years, that when a body of students conclude the studying of one of the volumes of the Talmud a public celebration is given, and when all of the sixty volumes are completed a celebration lasting seven days is given for the public.
