THE 20th ANNIVERSARY OF TEMPLE SHOLOM

In the summer of 1954, one hundred and ninety families became charter members of Temple Sholom, and secured a temporary chapel for worship at 7471 Ross Avenue in Roselawn. They inaugurated a complete congregational program including Religious School, Adult Education, Youth Group, Sisterhood and Brotherhood.

On October 13, 1957, this land at Longmeadow Lane and Ridge Rd. was consecrated for future facilities of Temple Sholom. Frisch Hall and the school building were dedicated on February 5-7,1960.

Ground was broken for the synagogue structure on September 18, 1966, and the new sanctuary and library were formally dedicated on June 2-4, 1967.

Rabbi Stanley R. Brav was Temple Sholom’s founding Rabbi. Rabbi Donald M. Splansky became associate Rabbi in 1971, and became Rabbi in 1972, upon Rabbi Brav’s retirement.
